Welcome to something that I have wanted to share for a long time.
I have been lucky enough to be on many of Al's Tours since 1974.
Along the way I have shot a great deal of Footage that has just sat in the Archive.
I
would like to share some of this with you all and so let's start with
the Sunday afternoon show from the Cambridge Folk Festival of 1989.
Al hadn't performed at the event for 30 years and had flown over from the US especially.
He
first played a couple of warm up gigs ( at Worthing and Cardiff ) where
he tried out pieces such as In Brooklyn and Manuscript for the first
time in over a decade before driving up to Cambridge for what would
turn out to be the last ever Concerts he would perform in Europe with
his Band.
"The audience out there are still, very much,
Traditional Folkies as far as I can tell..... " Al had told me on the
Sunday morning, something that he and Roy Harper would discuss at
length once we arrived at the Festival on that sunny afternoon.
What a day, What a wonderful day.
